Our group’s mission is to encourage the creation of more storytelling schools because we believe it is a wonderful and much-needed way to make schools more engaging and effective, especially in areas of social deprivation. Where schools are evidently successful, we see no benefit in interfering with their work, although all schools need to be challenged to improve. They are similar in that both promote parent participation, but PTA takes a more active role in developing programs, advocacy and training.

Another danger of promoting home activities is the possibility that there may arise an unclear distinction of roles, with teachers expecting parents to "teach" at home. The Roman Catholic Church teaches that parents are their children's first and most important teachers. Parent surveys - Take the time to respond to questionnaires sent to you by your principal. Teachers- parents relationship assume may roles. Where it remains uncertain that effective action is being taken, the LEA can: invite OFSTED to inspect the school; appoint additional governors to steer a better course of improvement; and ultimately withdraw budget delegation from the school. 20 This new constructive role will replace the uncertainty from which LEAs have suffered in recent years.
